-77- To the property north of the church came James Holman, from Devonshire , Sngland, grandfather of B. Roy Hol- man, a former mayor of Chariottetown. This farm has passed into the hands of Ivan Turner . Adjoining is the old Turner home where lives one of the oldest residents of the commun¬ ity - George Turner . His father George Turner came also from Devonshire . James Saunders across the road came from England . His son Isaac passed the farm to A. B. Sellar of Hew Glasgow who married his daughter. Heart is the farm of John Ford , formerly owned by his grandfather John Ford . Hearby is a very lovely stone house once known as Buxton Lodge - built by a Mr. Buxton . The cellar alone is said to be arj large as an early type house where Air, Buxton's ?vine was kept. This was at one time a JOG acre property, but has been divid¬ ed into six smaller farms arid is in the hands of several farmers; William Hambly , Ira Auld and others. On the farm of Harold Diamond (son of Thomas) eras the site of the old Post Office. The Aulds - George and Archie - are next. The last farm of the Buxton estate is that of Oliver Saunders * one of the oldest names in the district. The Moresides have a nice home - formerly the property of George Smith . The homestead next eastward is that which formerly belonged to John and Joseph Kennedy, but now belongs to JSLijah Saunders and Heigh Ford, and between these two homes is Winsloe Community Hall* This hall was built by early residents on condition that there would be no dancing there, in the hope of maintaining the moral ideals of the community.
