The historical chapters from the pens of distinguished men of therIsland who have been important workers in the events they record, comprise a valuable collection, and will be of great interest to the present gen- eration, and of inestimable worth to future historians, they being the result of exhaustive research, full and accurate knowledge and patient toil. Each biographical sketch in the book has been sub- mitted to the person interested for correction and approval, and therefore errors of fact, if there be any, are due solely to the per- son for whom the sketch was prepared.
