A preceptory of this order was instituted in Charlottetown by Sir Knight James Bower Nixon , special deputy of the supreme grand master of the Sovereign Great Priory of Canada . There were present thirteen can¬ didates, all of whom had received the degrees of , Knight Templar and Knight of Malta at a special assembly of Union De- Molay Preceptory . To all to whom these Presents shall come, Greet¬ ing: Whereas application hath been made unto us by the Union DeMolay Preceptory , No. 11, meet¬ ing at St. John, in the province of Bruna wick, for oiir permission to hold special assemblies at Charlottetown , province of , for the purpose of receiving petitions, bal¬ loting for and conferring the degrees of the or¬ der of the Temple upon certain Royal Arch Ma ¬ sons; Now know ye, that, having taken the matter into our consideration, and for good and sufficient causes made known unto us, we do by these pres¬ ents grant said request and do appoint Eminent Sir Knight James Bower Nixon our special deputy and direct him to proceed to Prince Edward Island with such other Knights Templar as may be chosen by us to accompany him, and there to con¬ fer said degrees under the warrant of Union De¬ Molay Preceptory , and thereafter to constitute a preceptory of Knights Templar in due and an¬ cient form of not less than seven members, and for so doing this our dispensation, granted by the power in us vested, shall be a full and sufficient authority. MacLean , Donald Darrach , Jno. Albert Messervey , Henry William Anderson , John James Davies , William Henry Batt , Daniel MacLean , Andrew Bowness , Leonard Morris , Hon . John Yeo , Hon . Benjamin Rogers , and at the same assembly aforesaid the following resolution was unanimously adopted: Resolved , that our warrant be loaned to Sir Knight James B. Nixon , the Instituting deputy, to enable him to open a special assembly of the • DeMolay Preceptory of Knights^ Templar, No. 11, in Prince Edward Island , and there obajtsr the degrees of our order upon the worthy Com¬ panions of that province who have this day (23d October, 1895) been elected for degrees and mem¬ bership, to that end that a new preceptory of Knights Templar may be Instituted in the afore- Bald province of under the authority granted to said deputy.
