The convention was held in the Society hall (Wright’s Building), Charlottetown, and opened at 8 p. m., on Au- gust 18, 1893. Of the eighteen courts with a total membership of 468, fourteen were represented by twenty-seven delegates. The four not represented were St. John, Albino, Ferndale, and New London. The oflice of high journal secretary was left vacant, but was afterwards filled by the appointment by the high secretary of L. U. Fowler, a member of Court Minnewawa, No. 215. Daniel Stewart, J. M. Martin, M. D., da H. D. Johnson, M. D.. were elected repre- sentatives to the Supreme Court, which was to meet in Chicago on August 3Ist. The rep- resentatives and others who attended the meeting of the Supreme Court had an op- portunity of attending the \Vorld's Fair,

then being held in Chicago. Rev. G. M. Campbell, then in St. John, since pastor of the First Methodist church
of Charlottetown, was one of the rep- resentatives from New Brunswick. Many who have heard the Rev. G. M. Campbell’s lecture on the “White City” will remember that he gave the Foresters credit for securing him the opportunity of seeing the W orld':- Fair where he gathered the material for his popular talk. ‘ The membership at this time was 54,484 with a surplus of $858,857.89-
During the next year one new court was organized by J. M. Clark, high secretary. When the High Court met in Charlottetown on August 14, I894, the membership had grown to 62,738, of whom 558 were in Prince Edward Island. The accumulated funds had increased to $1,018,484.62. When one million dollars had been laid aside for the future. the executive council celebrated the occasion by an outing to Foresters’ Island Park, and by issuing a badge known as the “Million Dollar” badge.
