He married Miss Caroline Rodd and to them have been born the following children: John, Cephas, David, Wallace, Hammond, Alphonso, Ambrose, Lydia, Fannie, Mary and Lillian. In politics Mr. Mallett supports the Liberal party and has been honored by election to school oflices. His religious aflil- iation is with the Methodist church, and his support is always given to those movements which promise to benefit his fellowmen.

THOMAS CAMPBELL, M. D., a leading member of his profession in Queens county, was born at Bedeque, in Lot 27, Prince Ed- ward Island, on the 29th of March, 1856, and is a son of Hugh and Mary (Carruthers) Campbell, the father a native of the High- lands, of Scotland. The paternal grandfa- ther, Donald Campbell, came to Prince Ed- ward Island in an early day and settled at Cape Traverse, where he successfully fol- lowed farming throughout his life. Hugh Campbell emigrated to Prince Edward Is- .land with his parents and lived at Bedeque during the remainder of his life, his death oc— curring there in March, 1884. He was a farmer by vocation and was successful to so great a degree that he was enabled to settle each of his boys on a farm, excepting the subject of this sketch. To Hugh and Mary Campbell were born the following children: James, deceased, who married Miss Helen McMicken, and was a farmer and carriage— builder, at Sealertown, Prince Edward Is- ' land; Donald, deceased, who married Miss Mary A. McPherson, and was a farmer; Bella is the wife of William Crocket, a farmer of North Carlton; Sarah is the wife of James Gillispie, a farmer; Hector, de- ceased, married Miss Flora McKenzie, and

was a farmer; Mary, deceased, was the wife of William Crocket, a farmer; Ewen, who married Miss Maggie McArthur, was at first a school teacher, later .a merchant and is now a farmer; Joseph, a farmer, married Miss Sarah Dixon; Thomas, the subject of this sketch. Hugh Campbell was a Conservative iri politics, and a stanch adherent of the church of Scotland.

Thomas Campbell received a good dis- trict-school education at Bedeque, and then attended the University of Pennsylvania one year, after which he matriculated in the med— ical department of the University of New York, in which he graduated in 1888. He immediately afterward located at Northam, near Summerside, Prince Edward Island, and was actively engaged in the practice of his profession there. He then located at Stan- ley Bridge, where he has since remained. He has a thorough knowledge of his profession and keeps closely in touch with the latest ad- vances along the line of the practice of medi- cine and surgery. He has been successful in a very definite degree and enjoys the abso-

lute confidence and respect of all who know him. He is a member of the Medical So-

ciety of Prince Edward Island, and stands

high among his professional colleagues. He owns a comfortable residence property at Stanley Bridge and the home is the center of ' a large associate circle.

On June 5, 1895, Dr. Campbell was united in marriage to Miss Ella Cairns, a daughter of John and Maria (Crawford) Cairns, of Freetown, Prince Edward Island,

where the father was a farmer, and died in 1899. To the subject and his wife have been

‘born two children, Beatrice C. and Marion .C. In politics the Doctor is a Conservative,

and in religion an adherent of the Presby- terian church.
