PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND. 3*3 ful contractor and builder in New , was born at Tyne Valley , Prince Edward Island , and is a son of John Waldron , and grandson of Alexander Waldron , who was a native of England , and who, upon his arrival in this province, settled in Lot 13, being about eighteen years old at the time. The subject secured a good education in the public schools of his neighborhood and upon reach¬ ing mature years -learned the carpenter's trade. He became a good workman and eventually entered into the building and contracting business, in which he was suc¬ cessfully engaged for many years. Locating in New , he constructed many substantial and modern buildings there, being numbered among the leading contract¬ ors and builders of that metropolis. Since his retirement from active business Mr. Wal ¬ dron has resided at his native place, Tyne Valley , where he now devotes his time to his family and friends, and to his gun and rod, of which he is extremely fond. Mr. Waldron married Miss Jennie Read , a daughter of Douglas Read, of Lot 2, and this union has been blessed with one child. Mr. and Mrs. Waldron are well known throughout this community, move in the best social circles and are held in the highest esteem. Archibald Montgomery , of , Lot 13, Prince county, who is engaged in the operation of a splendid farm, was born here and is a son of Donald and Christiana (Woodside) Montgomery, the latter a daughter of Archibald and Barbara (Mont¬ gomery) Woodside. Barbara Montgomery was a daughter of Hon . Donald Montgom ¬ ery, of Malpeque , and for many years a member of the Legislative Council for Prince Edward Island . One of his sons was Sen¬ ator Montgomery, now deceased, formerly a member of the Dominion Senate The subject's paternal grandfather, Archibald Montgomery , was born in Malpeque , this Island, in 1785, and during his active years farmed on an extensive scale. The paternal great-grandfather, Hon . Donald Montgom ¬ ery, was a native of Argyleshire, Scotland , and came to Prince Edward Island in 1772, at the age of ten years. He married Miss Mary Penman , of Bedeque , while his son, Archibald Montgomery , married Miss Mary Ramsey . To Donald and Christiana Mont¬ gomery were born the following children: Archibald, subject of this sketch; Hugh, of ; John Geddie , of Roxborough. Massachusetts ; Dan W., of British Colum¬ bia; William J., on the homestead; R. H ., of St. Eleanors , clerk of -the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island ; Mar¬ garet Jane; Mary, the wife of W. R. EHis , of -; Louisa, at home.. The subject of this sketch was reared under the parental roof and has devoted all his active years to agricultural pursuits, in which he has been successful to a very grat¬ ifying degree. He now owns and occupies the farm owned by his grandfather, the late Archibald Montgomery . The place is weH improved in every respect, containing a neat and well arranged residence, substantial and commodious barn and other necessary out¬ buildings, and the general appearance of the place reflects credit upon the owner's taste and judgment. Mr. Montgomery married Miss Minnie Grey Underhay , a daughter of J ; C. Under- hay, of Bay Fortune , whose sketch appears elsewhere in this volume To this union have been born the following children:
