1887, and in October, 1900, Mr. McNevin married Miss Louisa Rockham, of Char- lottetown, a daughter of Henry Rockham, and they have one child, Eleanor. Frater- nally Mr. McNevin is a member of the Inde- pendent Order of Odd Fellows.
WILLIAM T. HUGGAN, who occupies the responsible position of accountant for the Prince Edward Island Railway, is a native of Nova Scotia, having been born at Halifax on May 24, 18 51. His parents were Thomas and Sarah (Dowler) Huggan, the father a native of Barney’s River, Pictou county, Nova Scotia, born in 1818, and the mother born at Leith, Scotland, in December, 1819. The paternal grandfather, Andrew Huggan, who was a native of Arbroath, Scotland. came to Pictou county, Nova Scotia, as a pioneer settler of that locality, and there engaged 'in farming and milling, living there up to the time of his _death, at the age of eighty years. Thomas Huggan learned the trade of miller under his father’s instruc- tions and removing to Halifax, there con— ducted for many years what was known as Lawson’s mill, located on the northwest arm. He afterward engaged in the grocery busi» ness in Halifax, in which he continued until the time of his death. He was the father of eight children, two sons and six daugh- ters, of whom the subject of this sketch is the sixth in the order of birth.
William T. Huggan was educated in pri- vate schools, having been a pupil of the late Michael McCulloch, of the noted family of that name in Nova Scotia, and at the age of nineteen years entered the employ of the old Nova Scotia Railroad as junior clerk in the accountant’s office. He was promoted

from time to time, filling practically every position in the department, and when this road was merged into the Inter—Colonial Railway he was transferred to Moncton, where he remained nine and a half years, mainly in the accountants ofi’ice, a portion of the time being in the auditor’s oflice. In 1882 Mr. Huggan was transferred to Char- lottetown as accountant and auditor of the Prince Edward Island Railway, which posi- tions he has since held. He also has charge of the passenger and ticket departments, the multitudinous duties of which he performs with an case which is the result only of thor- ough familiarity with every detail and a systematic method of operation. He is con- sidered an expert accountant and stands high in the esteem of his fellow officials.
On November 27, 1875, Mr. Huggan married Miss Sarah L. Weldon, who was born at Moncton, New Brunswick, a daugh- ter of \V. E. Weldon, of Dorchester. To this union were born the following children: Eula Lyall, deceased; E. Bruce, who is with J. Paton Company, of Charlottetown; Dor- othy Oressa, who is now the wife of J. J. Davis; Thomas W. G. is engaged in rail- road construction in Minnesota; Ruth Con- stance is attending school. Mrs. Sarah Hug- gan died on March 31, 1889, and on June 6. 1900, Mr. Huggan married Miss Martha Campbell Sutherland, of Sea View, Prince Edward Island, a daughter of John D. Suth- erland. Fratemally Mr. Huggan belongs to the Masonic order, in which he has attained to the Royal Arch degree, while he has passed all the chairs in the blue lodge. Mr. Huggan takes an interest in such movements as tend to uplift his fellow men and is an ardent advocate of temperance, having him— self been a total abstainer from childhood.
