donald’s parents were John and Margaret (Mathison) Macdonald, natives of near Tottarome, Isle of Skye, Scotland, who upon reaching this province obtained two hundred acres of land where his descendants now live. He was but sixteen years old at the time and was one of three brothers, one of whom, John, settled with him at Pinette, while the other, Donald, went to Seal River. Mur— dock Macdonald married Miss Ann McQuar- rie, a daughter of Hector McQuarrie, who came to Prince Edward Island in 1810 from the Isle of Rum, near Kilmure, Scotland, and first settled at Cape Breton. He was the son of Donald, the grandson of John and the great-grandson of Neil McQuarrie. To Murdock and Ann Macdonald were born the following children: John, who was born in I812, and who now, in 1906, at the age of ninety-four, is in the enjoyment of ex- cellent physical and mental vigor, and from whom the main facts of this sketch were obtained; Ion, of Brook Village, Cape Bre- ton, married Miss Mary McLean, daughter of Donald McLean, and became the father of the following named children: Hector. now deceased. formerly a resident of Mira- michi. New Brunswick. married a Miss Christy Cameron: Neil died at home in young manhood; Malcolm, deceased. late of the Portage, at Belfast, this province. mar— ried Miss Catherine Furgeson of Lot 48; Al- lan, deceased. who resided on the old home- stead at Pinette: Margaret, the wife of Don- ald Docherty, of Lot 31 : Sarah married Al- lan McQuarrie. of Titusville. came from the Isle of Skye, Scotland. He was a son of Augus Cameron, coming into being at Uig, and on coming to Prince Ed- ward Island settled on Cameron Island, Point Prim, Lot 57. To Allan and Mary (Cameron) McDonald were born the follow— ing children: Murdock, deceased; Cather— ine Ann, wife of Ronald McPhee, deceased, of Little Sands, Kings county. Prince Ed- ward Island; Margaret Ann; Sarah Matilda; Angus James, a sea captain, who was taken sick on his vessel going to Italy and who died after reaching home in September, 1903; Alexander Hector died at home a young man; Isaac died in infancy; Neil went to California in young manhood and there became successfully engaged in mining and ranching and after attaining a satisfactory degree of prosperity, came back to the old homestead, where he is now residing, to- gether with Roderick Ewen, who never left the old homestead. While in California Neil married Miss Carrie Warmacotte and they have two sons, Allan and Charles. The family are members of St. John’s Presbyte- rian church in Lot 58.
HON. ANTHONY MCLAUGHLIN, of Peaks Station. Lot 38, Kings county, who occupies the responsible position of bursar for the Prince Edward Island Hospital for the Insane, and who achieved an excellent record as member of the House of Assembly and of the Executive Council, was born at Bedford, Queens county, and is a son of James and Mary (Phillips) McLaughlin, who were both natives of Ireland, the former having been born at Fintona county, Tyrone, and the latter at County Donegal. These parents came to Prince Edward Island in
