In 1904 Mr. Haszard was made a Queen's Counsel by appointment of the do¬ minion government. In religion the sub¬ ject subscribes to the creed of the Episcopal church. On October 12, 1876, Mr. Haszard was married to Miss Elizabeth Des Brisay , a daughter of the late Lestock P. W. Des Brisay , of the old and honoured family of that name and who resided for many years in New Brunswick , but passed the closing years of his life in. Prince Edward Island . To Mr. and Mrs. Haszard have been born the following children: Frederick Charles Lestock , who is now a physician at , ; Louis G., of Toronto , who was admitted to the bar in 1904; and Mary, Hilda, Evelyn, Ethel and Jack, at home. William Emerson Bentlev , a leading and well known attorney of Charlottetown , was born at Margate , Prince Edward Island , on October 23, 1872, and is a son of George W. W . and Emma Jane (Dennis) Bentlev , both also natives of Margate . His paternal grandfather. Thomas Bentley , was a native of York , England , and upon his arrival in Prince Edward Island located at Margate , where he engaged in fanning. George W. W. Bentley followed the pursuit of farming during his early years, but eventually moved to Kensington , where he engaged in mercan¬ tile business and where he still resides. He served as a member of the Provincial Par¬ liament for about fifteen years, and was also commissioner of public works and, latei, commissioner of crown lands. During a part health compelled him to retire from public life.' He became the father of.nine children, of whom six are now living. William E. Bentley received his early ed¬ ucation in the public schools at Kensing¬ ton, and then entered Prince of Col¬ lege. Upon leaving college he commenced reading law under the instructions of Mal¬ colm McLeod, Q. C, and in 1897 he was admitted to the bar. He then became the junior member of the firm of Mathieson & ■ Bentley, which relation continued until 1900, when Mr. Bentley became a partner with D. C. McLeod, K. C , under the firm name of McLeod & Bentley, and they are now enjoying a large and remunerative client¬ age, being considered one of the strong and reliable firms of Charlottetown . Mr. Bent ¬ ley is a member of the Law Society of Prince Edward Island, and is a member of the committee on examination of law stu¬ dents for admission to the bar. On June 11, 1902, Mr. Bentley was united in marriage to Miss Florence Alice Earle , who was born in Charlottetown , and is a daughter of Samuel N. Earle .- now of Charlottetown . Dennis O'Mera Reddin, senior mem¬ ber of the firm of Reddin Brothers, drug¬ gists, of Charlottetown , was born in this city in January, 1859, and'is a son of D. O. M . and Susan Reddin . Dennis O. Reddin received his element¬ ary education in the public schools of Char¬ lottetown, after which he attended Prince of Wales College, finishing his education with a four years' course at College, graduating in November, 1877.
