In May, 1896, he bought out the stock and good will of the firm, as well as the firm name, and has since conducted a most prosperous and successful business. He buys his stock outright and has the ex¬ clusive sale for the products of a number of leading manufacturers, among them the Heintzman & Company and the Mason & Risch pianos, the Dominion and the Karn organs, and he is also the representative for Prince Edward Island of the Raymond Manufacturing Co. for sewing machines, Mr. Jost also carries a complete stock of small musical instruments and a large line of sheet music, music books, etc. This stock is sold, largely on the installment plan, and be it said to the credit of the Island people, suits for the recovery of damages on such contracts are rare, they meeting promptly all payments when due. Mr. Jost is familiar with every detail of his business and is in the enjoyment of a large patronage throughout the Island. In September, 1887, Mr. Jost married Miss Ada E. Taylor , of Freetown , Prince Edward Island , and a daughter of William Taylor . They have one child, Willard S. Fraternally Mr. Jost belongs to the Knights of Pythias and the Independent Order of \-< 'Testers, being a past chancellor in the first named and a past high chief ranger in the latter. George F. Hutcheson , a business man of Charlottetown , was born in this city in March, 1873, ana< 's tne son oi Jonn F . and Mary (Hobbs) Hutelieson. the former born in Guysborough county, Nova Scotia , and the latter in England . About 1870 the father removed to Charlottetown and en¬ gaged at his trade, that of cooper, in which he was fairly successful. George F. Hutcheson attended the pub¬ lic schools, completing his education in Prince of Wales College, and he then ap¬ prenticed himself with E. W. Taylor , at the jeweler's trade, remaining in his employ some ten years. Mr. Hutcheson then started in business for himself in a small way in Queen street, later removing to Grafton street, opposite the postoffice, where he re¬ mained three years, eventually removing to his present quarters.on Grafton street. Here he carries a well selected stock of watches, clocks, jewelry, silverware, diamonds, and all other goods usually found in a first class establishment of this kind. Mr. Hutch ¬ eson is a graduate of the Philadelphia Op¬ tical College and carries a full line of optical goods. In October, 1898, Mr. Hutcheson wedded Miss Ethel Coffin , of Mt. Stewart. Prince Edward Island , and a daughter of Kimball Coffin . They have three children, Harold, Dorothy and Gordon. Fraternally he is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Sons of England . William K. Rogers , a prominent and successful general insurance agent of Char¬ lottetown. was born at Summerside , Prince Edward Island , on April 14,1868, and is the son of Joseph and Rebecca (Burrows) Rog ¬ ers, both natives of Prince Edward Island , the former born at Bedeque , and the latter at New London . The paternal grandfather was Joseph Rogers , a native of Wales , and the maternal grandfather was Thomas Burrows , who was born in England . The latter came
