George Alley was appointed judge of the county court of Queens county, being probably the young- est judge ever appointed in Canada. During his long occupancy of the bench his decisions were uniformly characterized by their jus- tice and by his careful and clear interpreta- tion of the law. He was a man of strong convictions and was fearless in expressing them. For many years he had been collect- ing material with a view to writing a history of the early settlement of Prince Edward Island. a work which was prevented by his early death.
