sition, 1876. John MacKenzie married Miss Angelina Cannon, a native of St. Eleanor's. Prince Edward Island, and they became the parents of the following children: Viola, now living in Toronto, Ontario; Devona, deceased; Catherine, at home; M. L. Frank. subject of this sketch.

M. L. Frank MacKenzie spent his school days in Summerside, and upon the comple— tion of his studies he learned the tailoring trade with his father. In 1876 he went to the Pacific coast, returning to the old home soon afterwards, and then went to Mont- real, where for a year he was in the employ of William Currie. He next went to Ham- ilton, Ontario, where for a number of months he was employed as cutter in the wholesale department of John Calder & Company. Returning to Summerside, he associated himself with his father, with whom he'remained until the,latter's death. after which he bought out the business, whiCh he has since successfully continued. He handles Scotch, English and American goods. and also carries a full line of hats. caps, and gents’ furnishing goods. He em- ploys none but skilled workmen and enjoys a large and representative patronage. Mr. MacKenzie is a member of the Summerside Fire Department, belonging to No. 2 Com- pany. He is a man of many fine qualities and enjoys the good will of all who know him. On November 30, 1905, he was mar- ried to Lily M. Maynard, daughter of Mrs. Flora Maynard. of Port Hill, Nova Scotia.

ALEXANDER SCOTT, who owns and con- ducts a fine farm in Lot 33, Queens county, was born in Lot 34, on September 29, 1825, and is the son of John and Elizabeth (Ken—

nedy) Scott, natives of Perthshire, Scotland, who came to Prince Edward Island in 1806 and here successfully followed farming. The paternal grandfather, Alexander Scott, came at the same time and remained here during the balance of his life. John Scott located on a farm at East River, in Lot 34.and there spent his remaining days, dying in 1858, the old place being now operated by a son.

The subject of this sketch was educated in the district schools and has followed farming during his active years. He has two hundred and fifty acres of land under the plow and as he says, “only one stump on his farm.” He has resided on the present place for fifty years and has brought the place up to a high standard of improvement in every respect. Mr. Scott is well known throughout this section of the Island and stands high in the esteem of all who know him. In politics he is a Conservative and for a number of years served efficiently as a school trustee. His religious affiliation is with the Baptist church.

Alexander Scott married Miss Jessie Scott, a daughter of Peter and Jessie (Rob- inson) Scott, and to them have been born seven children: Peter, Frank, Lizzie, An- nie. Maggie, Jessie and Lottie.

\VILLIAM A. STEWART, who enjoys an enviable reputation as a careful and artistic tailor at Summerside, was born in this city on March 22, 1865, and is a son of Donald and Fannie (Glover) Stewart, the former a native of Barney’s River, Pictou county, Nova Scotia, and the latter of Kensington, Prince Edward Island.
