In politics he has been a staunch supporter of the Conservative party, and in religion is a faithful member of the Baptist church.

He married Miss Matilda Anderson, a daughter of John Anderson. of Black Point Mills, Kings county. Mrs. Ford’s mother bore the maiden name of Catherine Mc- Donald, a native of Kings county, and a daughter of James McDonald. John Ander- son was a son of Daniel.Anderson. the first settler on North Lake. To the subject and his wife have been born the following chil— dren: Augusta, the wife of Wilfred Mc- Lean, of West River; Ada, Mabel and John at home. Mr. Ford is a man of good general information and occupies a leading and in- fluential position in his community, enjoying the sincere respect and esteem of all who know him.

ANGUS MACLEAN, a well known and successful physician at Souris, Kings county, was born at Pinette. Queens county, and is a son of Alex and Kate (McCrae) Mac- Lean, the former a native of Scotland and the latter of Point Prim. Queens county, Prince Edward Island, a daughter of Donald McRae, who came from Scotland.

The subject was educated in the district schools of Queens county and later attended Prince of Wales College, at Charlottetown. Having determined on the practice of medi- cine, he entered the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania at Phila- delphia, where he graduated in 1882. cal course he entered upon the active prac- tice of his profession at Souris, in which he has since successfully engaged, com- manding a large and representative practice. He devotes his entire atention to his busi— ness, being a close reader, and keeps in close touch with the latest advances in the healing art. He is a member of the Masonic order and is highly respected throughout the community.

JAMES CHESTER HOUSTON, M. D., a widely known and successful merchant at Souris, Kings county. was born at New Glasgow, Queens county. on November I, 1873, and is a son of George and Mary (Sample) Houston, also natives of New Glasgow. George Houston was‘ born at New Rustico, Prince Edward Island, and his father, Alex Houston, at the same place. The family originally came from New Edin- burgh, Scotland. The subject’s paternal grandfather, James Sample, was also a na- tive of Scotland and emigrated to Prince Edward Island.-
