PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND. 605 garet Creamer was born in the north of Ireland and was a daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Malone) Creamer, both natives also of that country. The subject of this sketch after receiv¬ ing a district school education began business as a builder and contractor at East Point . The following year he shifted the East Point lighthouse and built the fog alarm there. He built and completed St. Joseph's convent at Charlottetown and has erected most of the Roman Catholic churches and altars of Kings county and many fine resi¬ dences. In 1878 he moved to Souris and bought a splendid farm, formerly known as the Morris property, where he has erected a good residence and other substantial farm buildings. He has not relinquished his con¬ tracting business, however, and has now the contract for the Souris new postoffice, which will cost when completed, about two thousand dollars and which will be finished in October, 1906. Mr. Creamer was fore¬ man in the building of the St. Mary's church, pirticularly superintending the putting on of the roof, which was considered one of the best pieces of frame work in Prince Edward Island . He has put in some of the best wood work in Roman Catholic churches to be found in Canada . Some of the altars he has built, including those in St. Andrew's church, have cost as high as two thousand dollars, and have been very attractive in their design and workmanship, in connec¬ tion with which it is interesting to note that all of the fine carvings and other de¬ tail work of these altars have been done by Mr. Creamer , he being a skilled wood- carver. In politics Mr. Creamer is a Liberal and takes an active interest in the suc¬ cess of his party. Mr. Creamer married Miss Eliza Cam ¬ pion, a daughter of George Campion , of Sou¬ ris, and who was born at St. Andrew's. The Campions were among the early French settlers at St. Andrew's. Mrs. Creamer 's mother, whose maiden name was Mary Cook , was born at St. Peter 's and came of a family which was among the earliest set¬ tlers of that section. To Mr. and Mrs. Creamer have been bom eight children, namely: May Ellen , George R., Mabel, Ernest, John J., Blanche, Eva and Kath ¬ leen. Fraternally the subject is a member of the Catholic Mutual Benefit Association. Jeremiah Daniel Enman , the capable and popular station agent for the Prince Ed ¬ ward Island Railway at Summerside , was born at Vernon River , Lot 50, Prince Ed ¬ ward Island, on December 18, 1844. His paternal grandfather, Jeremiah Enman , who was a native of New York city, was a Unit¬ ed Empire Loyalist and was brought to Prince Edward Island by his stepfather, James Laird , and here received a grant of five hundred acres of land at Vernon River , where he remained until his death. He de¬ voted his attention to farming and was highly respected in the community. His son, David Enman , father of the subject, continued the operation of the homestead during his life, and his death occurred in 1888, at the age of seventy-nine years. He was married to Miss Christina McLaren , of , and to them were born eleven children, of whom the subject of this sketch is the third in order of birth. Jeremiah D.
