ROBERT G. HORN, known throughout Lot 5 as a successful farmer and energetic citizen, was born in this lot on February 17, 1867, and is a son of Robert H. and Sarah (Gavan) Horn, both natives of Scotland, the father born at Glasgow, and to them were born ten children, all of whom were reared to maturity. Upon coming to Prince Edward Island in 1863 the father entered upon the present homestead on Lot 5, which he cleared and improved until it became one of the choice agricultural prop- erties in this locality. In politics he was a Liberal and in religion a Presbyterian. His death occurred in 1894.
The subject of this sketch received a good district school education and has de- voted all his active years to agricultural pur- suits. He is the owner of two hundred and forty-nine acres of choice land, one hundred and eighty of which are under the plow and devoted to the raising of miscellaneous crops, such as are common to this latitude. Mr. Horn is practical and systematic in his methods and has achieved a definite success in his vocation. He also gives some atten- tion to dairying, selling the milk to the cheese factory. His farm is highly im- proved in every respect, being adorned with a large and elegant residence and substan- tial and commodious barns and other out- buildings, while the general appearance of the place indicates the owner to be a man of good judgment and excellent taste. In 1898 Mr. Horn married Miss Ella J. Small— man, a daughter of Joshua and Elizabeth (Ramsey) Smallman, the father a farmer in Lot 7. To Mr. and Mrs. Horn have been born four children: Robert J. H., Eliza- beth M., Annetta and David \V., all of whom remain at home. In religion Mr. Horn is a staunch Presbyterian and lends
