the Doctor has gained the absolute confi- dence of those who have had dealings with him, and also enjoys the sincere respect and regard of all who know him. He keeps in touch with the latest advances in his pro— fession and is considered a leading doctor in this section of the Island. Fratemally he is a member of the Independent Order of Foresters, in which he has received recog- nition in his election at one time to the re- sponsible position of high physician. In 1900 Doctor Rodgerson married Miss Marjory Ann Mary Stewart, a daughter of Donald and Christine (Stewart) Stewart, of Cardigan, and they have two children: Helen Stewart and Ruth.
NEIL D. MACLEAN was born on his present farm at Canoe Cove on November 15, 1840, and is a son of Duncan and-Flora (McPhee) MacLean. Duncan MacLean was a native of the Isle of Mull, Argyle- shire, Scotland, and emigrated to Prince Edward Island, locating at Canoe Cove, where he followed farming until his death, which occurred on July 12, 1885. He was a member of the Baptist church, and in poli- tics a Liberal. He married Miss Flora Mc- Phee, also a native of the Isle of Mull and who died in 1890, their union being blessed by the birth of the following children:
Katherine; Ann, who married Hugh Gil- lis; Mary, who became the wife of John McDougald; Euphemia, the wife of James Campbell; Archibald. of Nine Mile Creek: Neil D., the subject of this sketch. and Don- ald, who is in California.
Neil D. MacLean received his elemen- tary education in the district schools of Canoe Cove, and was reared to farm life. to

which line he has since devoted his energies. He is now the owner of one hundred and eighty acres of land, of which one hundred and fifteen are under cultivation and well improved, making it one of, the finest farm homes in this section of the'land.
He has always given a strong support to the Liberal party, and is a consistent mem- ber of the Baptist church and takes a deep interest in all affairs of the community, giv- ing a hearty support to all measures tending to benefit his fellow men.
On December 31, 1884, Mr. MacLean was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Ann McRae, a daughter of Finley McRae, and to them were born children as follows: Daniel, December 3, 1885; Lea, who died in childhood; Laura, February 14, 1889; Nel- son, June 24, 1894, and Anna, March 4,

JAMES W. ,TAYLOR, who _has achieved a splendid reputation as a successful farmer in Lot 65, Queens county, was born on St. Peter's Island, December 15, 1870, and is a son of William and Sarah (McCray) Tay- lor and a grandson of James Taylor, prob- ably born on the Island. The latter. for many years, followed the sea but during his later years followed farming. He married Miss Lizzie Lund, and to them were born five children, namely: Eliza, who became the wife of Hector Corbett; Mary, who married \Villiam H. Lund; Caroline, who became the wife of John McQuarrie; \Vil- liam, the father of the subject, and James. The grandfather was a member of the Pres- byterian church and in politics voted with the Liberal party. The subject’s father was also a native of St. Peter’s Island, where he
