in his profession by a course of liberal read- ing and also through his membership in the Prince Edward Island Medical Association, and is held in the highest esteem by his pro- fessional colleagues. Fratemally he is a member of the Independent Order of For- esters and the Canadian Order of Forest- ers. On March 29, 1905, Doctor Brehant was married to Miss Annie Lauretta McRae, a daughter of Finley and Margaret (Mac- Donald) McRae and a native of Flat River, Prince Edward Island. Her father was born at Flat River and her mother at Point Prim, Prince Edward Island.
GEORGE MACDONALD, a substantial citi- zen and successful farmer at New Perth West, was born at this place on June 15, 1854, and is a son of William and Mary (Moar) Macdonald. the father a native of Montague, Prince Edward Island, and the mother of Scotland, both being of ancient Scottish lineage. \Villiam Macdonald foln lowed the dual occupation of farming and milling through life and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.
The subject of this sketch received his education in the district schools of the neighbourhood and was reared to the life of a farmer, which pursuit he has followed continuously since. In 1884 he entered into business on his own account and has since devoted his attention to his one-hundred- acre farm adjoining the old homestead, which is most eligibly located and well im- proved with a full set of neat and substantial tial farm buildings and other accessories of a well kept farm. The place is very produc- tive and Mr. Macdonald raises large crops of all the products common to this locality.

He gives special attention to dairying and has found this a very profitable line of enter- prise. Mr. Macdonald has twice been mar- ried, first to Miss Edith M. Moar on June 256, 1890, she being a native of New Perth and a daughter of William and Sarah (Martin) Moar. She died on September 20, 1891, leaving one son, George W., who now lives with his father. On March 29, 1905, Mr. Macdonald married Miss Mar— garet M. Moar, a daughter'of‘James and Jennie (Reid) Moar, she also being a native of Prince Edward Island. Mr. and Mrs. Macdonald are members of the Christian church, take an active part in its varied interests and politically he is a staunch sup— porter of the Liberal party. He is a man of many fine personal qualities and enjoys the regard of all who know him.
JOHN ROBERTSON, a successful fruit grower and farmer living on the Inkerman place in Lot 52, Kings county, was born at Brinkley Point Road, Lot 33, Prince Ed- ward Island, on January I, 1830, and is a son of James and Katherine (Robertson) Robertson, both natives of Perthshire, Scot- land, where the father was a farmer and distiller by occupation. They were the par- ents of two sons, one of whom, the subject’s younger brother, Peter, now resides in Bos- ton, Massachusetts, and is a man of considé erable wealth.
John Robertson was educated in the dis- trict schools which, at that time, were rather primitive in their establishment and his early years were spent on the parental home- stead. At 'the age of twenty-seven he com- menced business on his own account, pur- chased part of the Old homestead from his
