In April 1966 the East Baltic P.O. was moved to the home of Horace P. MacDonald, Kingsboro.

After October 1970, a change took place, as many post offices on the Island were closed including the East Baltic one in Kingsboro. The mail was delivered on this Rural Route by Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Conway, Souris, but was still brought to Elmira Post Office by Arthur Holland, Elmira.

In 1971 Conways began delivering mail as far east as the Crossroads and also brought the mail for the East Point Rural Route to Elmira. This system is still in use. Plus Cheverie delivers the mail from the Elmira Post Office.

Stone Quarry at St. Catherines

Remains of a stone ledge may still be seen at St. Catherines. Stone was taken from here and used in the structure of the Roman

Catholic church in Souris. It was hauled by horse and cart, and imprints of the old road may also be seen.

Dug Wells

The old wells were dug by hand and the clay was taken up by

a Windlass. These wells were about 2 l/2 or 3 feet in diameter and averaged a depth of 40 feet.

Digging wells was a trade with some men.

After the wells were dug they were lined with rocks, which were hewn into shape until they reached bed-rock. Boxes were

build over them for safety and were needed also for winding buckets of water up by a Windlass.
