The first operator was Billie MacDonald, Bear River, then Joe Bailey, followed by a Mr. Bell for a short time, who boarded at Mrs. Ida Mellick's. Other operators were Raymond MacPhee, Joe

Bailey, a second time, and Mary Ellen Bailey. Michael O'Keefe was the last operator; he closed out the store.

Later Mrs. A. P. MacPhee worked on a commission in this

store, and J. J. Hughes provided the goods. She afterwards bought out the property.

Fred MacDonald's Store

William Pierce's driveway separated the Hughes store from

one operated by Fred MacDonald, Souris. Raymond MacPhee clerked here for some years.

Co—Op Store

This store was in charge of Ernest Avery for a number of years. The property has been taken over by Robert (Bobby) Conway.

Robertson

After spending some years working in the U.S.A., Eddie Robertson returned to Prince Edward Island, where with his wife, Theresa, he bought and settled on a farm for some years in East Baltic. Later he moved to Kingsboro where he built a store in 1944. He still attends this store and Theresa operates one at

North Lake since 1950 which she keeps open during the fishing season.

Lakeville

A small store was owned here at one time by Patrick MacInnis. The money was in pounds, shillings and pence.

Glencorradale

James Campbell owned a small store in the Glen. The property was later sold by his wife, the former Janie Dunphy,

daughter of John Dunphy, blacksmith. In later years the land was baught by Edward Holland.
