When the harbour was completed a new fish stand was built by the Government and fish were canned. Paul Gallant bought the :ish and some years later bought the stand.

Jerome Chapman, Black Pond, also bought fish for a short while for the Fishermen's Union.

*During the early fishing days, James Young, Foster's grand- father, built vessels at Basin Head, called Bear Creek at that time. One sank off the harbour close to shore. The wreckage is still there and fishermen are always on the alert to escape having their nets and anchors caught in it.

*James Young was grand—father of the Howard Young family.
