Campbell's Cove Park

This Provincial Park was opened in 1963 with Charles MacMahon as Warden until the fall of 1966 when Sylvanus (Syl) MacAulay became Warden. The park was officially opened by Hon. W. R. Shaw.

It is on land formerly owned by Charles MacMahon. Francis Rose is night watchman.

This park and the Red Point Park are also camping sites and trailer parks offering complete facilities.

Motels

Sea Breeze Motel

Major Young, Red Point, who started fishing when he was 18 years of age continued in this industry for 50 years. He was the first fisherman to use a diesel engine in his boat at North Lake.

Some years ago he purchased land and started a building which he intended for a motel, but, owing to ill health it was

not completed but was taken over later by his son, Ross (Johnny)

and his daughter Doris (Young) Llewellyn. It was officially opened on June 19, 1971 by Hon. D. J. MacDonald.

It is situated in the centre of a prosperous farming community overlooking Northumberland Strait and the Basin Head Pond. An extension is now under construction.

Silver Maples Motel

The Silver Maples Motel was built in 1968 and is owned by Robert and Muriel Robertson. It is located on Highway 16, seven

miles east of Souris and overlooks the waters of Basin Head Pond and Northumberland Strait. An extension was built to this Motel

in 1971. Tourists have come here from many places including South Africa, Tokyo and Singapore.

The first two guests were from North Dakota, U.S.A. and were relatives of the Rev. R. B. Kinley who was pastor of the Baptist Church at Kingsboro from 1881—1885.
