South Lake Supplies Gas for Copter
On March 5, 1962 the pilot of a helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing near Fraser's store, North Lake, when he found that the aircraft was nearly out of fuel.
Gas suitable for the copter was obtained from Louis Stewart's Service Station, South Lake.
The aircraft owned by Aut Helicopter Co. of Montreal, was engaged in hauling supplies for sealing expeditions, and this time was on its way from Montreal to the Magdalen Islands.
Sea Plane Lands at Basin Head
A single-engined sea plane developed engine trouble and landed on Basin Head Pond August 30, 1945, where it remained overnight.
Spraying Potatoes by Plane
Potato spraying by plane was first demonstrated on Keenan Farms, New Zealand, P.E.Is1and in 1965. The first spraying by this method east of Souris was in 1971.
Basin Head Bridge
The first bridge built on the Pond road to Basin Head was in 1900.
