Richard, from whom the “Cove Dawsons” are descended married Elizabeth Howatt and then Mary Pooley. Richard and his first had five children, namely: Thomas, Henry, John, Mary and Alex- ‘r. To his second wife nine children were born: Johnston, Warren, ilton, 'Heartz, Alder, Martha, Mary, Fanny and Benjamin.

Henrv (one of Richard’s first family), born 1830—died 1912, mar— Elizabeth Keough (1831-1919). They had a family of nine: Margaret, ie, Libby, Gordon, Edwin, John A., Ida, Hannah May and Evageline.

John A. Dawson (1865—1940) son of Henry Dawson and Elizabeth ‘gh married Eliza Wood (1868-1949) in the year 1886. In time he loved to Central Bedeque and took charge of the Bedeque Fox Farm. W! 31 the said farm was closed out he settled in Central Bedeque Village W "8 he and Eliza spent their last days. When John A. moved to Bede- Elmer, the second son, took over the homestead farm. This property ill in the Dawson name as Ralph, Elmer’s grandson, lives in a new . e which is very near to the site of the old home.

The five sons of John A. and Eliza were: Carl Addington, Henry er, Ulric Gathorne, Haddon Spurgeon and Ivan Barton Field, all born rllgustine Cove.

Carl was born in 1887. He attended school here and then went to . ace of Wales College; then studied theology at Acadia University and Ordained as a Baptist minister. Subsequently he attended the Uni- iity Of Chicago from which he received his Ph.D. During World War ' * served as Transport Officer for the Canadian Army.

He taught at McGill University from 1922-1952 and, after retire- 13’ at the University of Texas, University of Tulane and at McMaster amilton. He represented Canada at Oslo, Norway, when the World gress of Sociology was held there and at the time of his retirement Dean of Sociology at McGill.

After leaving Montreal, they bought a home in Whitby, Ontario, W re Dl‘. Dawson passed away in 1963. His wife who was the former
