One of these Selkirk settlers was Neil MacFadyen, a native o::' t? . Isle of Mull, also Margaret Campbell, a native of Argyleshire, who lat , , became his wife. In October 1803 he obtained a tract of land from Jolml , Holland in Augustine Cove, and he followed farming up to the tine r his death.
Neil MacFadyen (17 81-1834) and his wife Margaret Campbell (i 7 t ‘ 1834) had a family of three sons and two daughters: Finley, Hect " Mary Ann, Neil and Eunice (adopted). The MacFadyen’s now l‘vi in Augustine Cove are descendants of the above mentioned Finley. 5 ‘
Finley (1812—1900) the eldest, married his first cousin Iszbe. ~ Campbell (1816-1911). This family lived on the property now owned Gordon Dawson. There were eight children: Neil, (grandfather of NM dell and Gerald) ; Alexander, who married Priscilla Leard, inherited a " lived on his father’s farm. Jennie married William Bell and lived in Carleton for a time. Lall she moved back to the Cove, and she and her family of four boys lll'i ,1 with her parents. Her sons, Herbert, Harry, Finley and Campbell W9 '. brought up in Augustine Cove. Herbert attended university in Edinb‘lrg 9 Scotland and later became a professor there. ‘
As mentioned above Neil (1844 -1922) was the grandfathtr' 2 Wendell and Gerald MacFadyen. He lived, and farmed, all his life ‘, Augustine Cove. His house was on the right side of the road leadi 19 ’ Lloyd Inman’s. He married Annie Gillis (1847—1919) of Stanchel aid‘i them were born three sons and two daughters: Malcolm, Edward, l’efi1 '3.» Donald and Isabelle. ‘
Malcolm, who served in the Boer War, moved to Western Canada‘ ' his youth. He married Mae Sanderson and settled in Edmonton. To the fl were born Mildred, Yvonne, Doris, Neil and Kenneth, all of whom 3‘ " settled in the West.
