JAMES EDWARD MURPHY James Edward Murphy (father of Joseph) was a prominent farmer Hi day. He specialized in seeds. He first exhibited at the Seed Fair B mmerside in the early years of this century; then later at a seed B q Amherst, N.S. Three years in a row (1914-1915-1916), he was mi :ed a silver cup donated by Steele-Briggs of Toronto for the best sxli t of wheat, oats and barley, both in the sheaf and the seed. This lea iful cup is now in possession of his son, Joseph. In 1917 he sent a B; e of timothy seed to the British Empire Seed Fair in London, Eng- aftl For this he took the 13th prize. THE MURRAY 'S In 1923 James Murray , son of James Murray and Rose Ann Ham- B moved from his home in Fernwood to Augustine Cove where he iur ased the property formerly owned by Albert Sherren . James Mur- ay as born April 15, 1899 and died October 12, 1962. On June 24, 1925 he married Marie Malone, born June 14, 1898, of pre< >wn and they had a family of seven sons and three daughters Mervin, born May 31, 1926 is unmarried and lives in Edmonton, B ta, where he is an electric welder. Arnold was born November 11, 1927. He married Helen Sherry of w "ood and presently owns a successful farming operation in the >*■ oouring district of Carleton Siding . They have a family of eight: Mc Alan, Linda, Leona, Dale, Carl, Mary Ellen and Marilyn. John, born January 31, 1929, attended University and *•■ ed his degree in industrial accounting from the University of Alberta. W now area manager for Saskatchewan and Alberta for Mac and Hayes B'.s. In 1955 he married a school teacher, Edith Pardell , of Edmonton . he now reside there with their two children, Lynn and Patrick. I Elizabeth (Betty), born April 11, 1931, attended Prince of B-(e where she received her teaching certificate. She now works in a • in Weston, Ontario , where she resides with her husband Stan Rich- fl of Loggieville, New Brunswick , and children Debra, Karen, Paul, B*s and Joan. Ruth was born September 25, 1932. She attended high school in ■th Rustico and has studied in Kingston where she is an assistant Jher at a school for retarded children. She married Emmett Adam of •ark, Ontario , and now resides in Kingston with their six children, ,flfi'i, Barbara, Richard, Lori, Murray and Danny . 1 Elaine and Gerald were born August 8, 1934. Elaine attended high •°1 in North Rustico and Prince of Wales College from where she ^Jived her teaching certificate. She taught school for a number of years °n P.E.I , and in Ontario . In 1963 she married Frank Murphy of >oth _ p°ronto and they now reside in Brampton. M Gerald lives in Augustine Cove where he operates a potato farming Nation on the family farm.
