They had eleven children, three of whom died in infancy I surviving children were: Minnie, George, Edward, Margaret Alice , Cs erine (Kate), Mary Jane (May), John and Harry. Benjamin, for mi years, operated a saw and grist mill on the site of the mill dam a A ustine Cove . In 1900, he and his son, Harry, built a new hous<, i occupied by Bryce Clark. In 1905, they sold that home to Gordoi II n Farlane , who was married to Kate Webster , and bought the ad; oil farm, which, at that time was owned by Joseph Callbeck . Harry ian there until his death in 1936, at which time his son, Vernal , toot and continued farming until 1969, when, due to ill health, he sdd| farm to its present owner, George Murphy . On January 9, 1901 Harry (1876-1936) married Lena Bell (18|ov. 1952) of Cape Traverse . To them were born seven children; two so; si ry< in infancy. A daughter, Margaret, twin sister of Jean, died in via: res 1919 at eleven years of age. The surviving children were Jean, Vi Doris and Grace x>k Jean, born December 29, 1907, taught school for three yea -s: 'it! on August 7, 1929 married Lome Carruthers (1905-1958) of Au.rustphc Cove . They had a family of eight children. One daughter, twin o:i CI died in infancy. The family members are: Errol, Margaret, Clair , H man, Elizabeth, Doris and Esther (See Carruthers history for a account of this family). Vernal was born on March 29, 1912. In 1942 he married Gerald Darby, a school teacher from Summerside . They have a family of daughters and two sons: Dianne, Barbara, Harry and John. Dianne, February 28, 1945, attended P.W.C . and worked as a stenographe' i few years before marrying Kenneth Haywood of Charlottetown . T! have two daughters, Lisa and Nancy. Barbara was born on July 2 i, 1! She obtained her B.A . degree from P.WC . in 1969, and married E ° Younker of Charlottetown the same year. She is presently teachin? the Eliot River Elementary school in Cornwall . Harry was born Sept* ber 19, 1953. After graduating from Regional High Scl ool attended U.P.E.I. for two years. He is presently attending the Jni' sity of Calgary. John, born July 25, 1955, is presently attending El wood High School. Doris born May 6th, 1915, married Vance Dixon of in 1941. She resided there until her death in 1971. To them were I two sons, Eric and Carl. Grace, born June 28th, 1919, taught school for four years bet entering the field of nursing, obtaining her R.N . in 1945. In Noveffl 1945, she married Wendell MacFadyen . They had a family of " daughters, one of whom was stillborn, and two sons: Sandra, Ed* (Ted), Joanne and David. (See MacFadyen history.)
