INTRODUCTION This book was written through the joint efforts of our Institute members as our Centennial Project, 1973- Many people, not only within the institute but others in the district, as well as friends and relatives far and wide helped by providing informa¬ tion. We wish "to thank" everyone who helped in any way to make this history possible. The Head of our History Committee, Mrs. Harold Yeo , deserves special credit because without her efforts this book would not have been completed. * Research is time consuming and in some cases, ecause of lost records, is impossible. While here are bound to be errors and omissions, they ■are by no means intentional and we apologize for these. *lt is hoped that the present and future gen- rations will get some useful information from it, and that they will cherish the memory of what came before. Perhaps, by realizing the hardships our forefathers bore it will make our burden easier; fnd we will work together to make this place--be it Belmont, P.E.I. , or the World—a better place to be and a better place because we've been here.
