delegates were sent. Members living in these places, but having their names on the Belmont church roll, were dismissed to join the church in their community. When Rev. R.B. Kenley resigned he was urged to stay but as he pressed his resignation it was accepted. A committee was then appointed to confer with Tyne Valley to take immediate steps for another pastor. Special meetings were held during the summer of 1888 and in December of 1889 a meeting was called for the purpose of engaging Rev. Mr. Phalan . Apparently Rev. Phalen stayed only a short time when the Home Mission Board sent Brother H. Carter for a period of one year. In 1895 Mr. Mason , who was pastor at Tyne Valley gave semi-monthly services until health forced him to quit. For the next few months Rev. W.H. Robinson , pastor of the Summerside field preached every second Sunday morning and had pastoral over¬ sight of the field. For the remainder of the summer Rev. Stackhouse carried on the work. In 1897 Rev. A.F. Baker had special services lasting for six weeks when a great awakening was experienced and about forty were baptized. Rev. Robertson again conducted services and then a desire on the part of Belmont to unite with Summerside was discussed. This must have met with the approval of the Home Mission Board because the future records show that he preached his farewell sermon about this time. It would now seem that in the summer of 1898 a Rev. Mr. Grant was accepted as pastor and remained for about two years when Mr. Freeman conducted services for the summer. Nothing more is recorded until the minutes mention the coming of Gordon Warren in 1906. The following summers were filled with a number of licentiates. In 191A Robert Home was pastor and when the first World War started he left to go overseas with the First Contingent, as a member of the medical Corps. Emmerson Curry then supplied until he too, left with the 85th Batallion. Harry Collins of Gordon Bible College, Boston, supplied until college opened in the fall. The Pastor of Bedeque , Mr. Charles Brittain , served the field for the remainder of the year. At this time the services were conducted by Rev. Piper , Rev. E. Simpson , and Rev. Spidel . In 1918, Mr. Freeman , of Charlottetown supplied. The next student was "r. Merle Mason who came in 1920 and stayed until 29
