September when he returned to Acadia University. Rev. A.K. Herman, of Summerside and a number of other pastors served the church until May of l926 when Alvin Robertson came as a student for the summer. At this time a 50 year celebration was held. When he left, Rev. A.A. MacLeod and Rev. Whitman carried on the work.
The year of l926 saw considerable repairs made. Trees were cut, the building of a shed, work around the cemetery and the fence around the church lot, were the activities of the year. At the annual meeting of l927 Dr. Mason introduced the idea of working with the United Church in Central Lot l6 and l4. A committee was appointed with Rev. A.A. MacLeod to arrange for the meeting with other committees from the other churches. A motion to place a memorial - a gasoline lamp - to Burton Simpson in the church was unanimously carried.
The next year the Sunday School paid for a railing to be placed around the pulpit. In l929 the inside of the church had more repairs with papering and painting. In l930 Rev. J. J. Sidey introduced the matter of pastorless churches and suggested that the Belmont church unite with the others in the support of a pastor at large. As the distance between Belmont and Murray River, one of the churchfl concerned, was so great nothing was done about it. The meeting decided to ask the Home Mission Board for a summer pastor and that R.R. Winchester be sent. Mr. Winchester whose home was Belmont was then studying at Acadia. He conducted services
for two years and according to the minutes the Home Mission Board was asked to send him for a third, but the Board felt that this would not be
in the best interests of either Mr. Winchester or the church. During this time a new pulpit and
two new chairs were dedicated and Dr. Mason was
the speaker for the occasion. The next summer
Rev. J. B. Wilson, Summerside, started to supply and continued until he resigned in l938. The years l93l to l952 saw many repairs and improvements made to the church. The minutes record that the general routine of the church was carried on during this time. in l954 the repairs were continued when the porch of many years standing was replaced by
a verandah-type porch. A sign board was also purchased and when electricity was introduced the purchase of a new Hammond electric organ was made.
