Edward Auld from Covehead took over the mills and the land.

Later John Clark bought the land and in turn sold it to Frank Auld. In 1941 Ernest Inman (Sr) purchased the land and it is now owned and operated by his son, Mervin.

MRS . HARRY BEST

The first recorded owner of this property was James MacDonald. In 1850 it was purchased by John lnman, who was married to Jane Ann Best. The next owner was Mark Best, who bought the land in 1894 from John Inman. He married Isabelle MacLaren, and they had four children, a daughter Mae (Mrs. Ross Douglas) and three sons, Otto, George and Henry. This family resided on the property for only four years, since Mark and his wife died within months of each other at a very young age. In I898, Oliver Best, a brother of Mark, moved from Kildare Cape where he Farmed, and bought this property. He was married to Josie Simmons of Belmont, and their family consisted of Hazel, (Mrs. Melvin Clark) now residing in Charlottetown, Frank (who died at the age of 11), Roland of Central, Harry of Belmont (deceased in 1970) Lloyd now living in Darnley, Mabel, Mrs. Alfred Waite (deceased) and JOhn in Belmont.

In 1934, Oliver Best deeded this property to his son, Harry, who married Erma MacLaren of Belmont. They had two daughters, Ruby, (Mrs. Edward Clark), Belmont and Edith (Mrs. Ivan Green), Vancouver, B.C.

In May 1962, the land was sold to Sterling Thompson. The house, garage and % acre of land were kept by Harry Best. Mrs. Erma Best now resides on this property.

EDNARD CLARK

In 1870, this farm was owned by Henry Chinnick, who, in 1878 sold it to James Higgins and Donald Nicholson. Both of these families moved to this district from Crapaud.
