ARNETT SIfPSON In the year 1869, Jeremiah Simpson , a member of the P.E.I. Legislature , acquired kh acres of land from Andrew Campbell . Formerly this land had been leased from Charlotte Antonia Sullivan, of Middlesex, England . This land was later transferred to his son, James W. Simpson , who, in 1892 purchased 39 i acres from Richard Simmons , and also 60 acres from the government. In 1900, he bought 39 acres from Alfred Simmons , thus making a total of 183 acres. James Simpson married Isabella Hardy , and they had a family of nine; William, Theodosia, Minnie, Judson, Eliza, Alice, Jeremiah, Myrtle and Elijah. This farm passed in 1906 to his second son Judson J. Simpson , who was Justice of the Peace for many years. Judson married Myra Arnett , and they had two sons, one who died at an early age, and Arnett, who married Mabel Carruthers . Arnett has owned this farm since 19*»7. Their family consisted of two daughters, Olga, Mrs. Harley Gamble , and Shirley , B. Sc, Laboratory Technician with the at Halifax, Nova Scotia . LEIGH SIMONS The summer cottage belonging to Leigh Simmons of Rockland, Mass. , was built during the summer of 19&8. Every year Leigh with his wife and son come from the United States to spend their vacation there. This cottage replaced the home that had belonged to Leigh's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Simmons . Mr. Simmons and his wife, formerly Gertrude Breen from Darnley ,^ had a family of seven, two boys and five girls. Leigh, who first married Lena Chappel 1 and had a daughter ^ Joan ( Mrs. Wayne Enman) and a son Walter. After Lena s death Leigh married Chrissie MacLeod, and they have a son Marshall, Wallace who married Jean Simmons and has a family of four, Brenda, Gary, Gregory and Katherine.
