BEAUTIFUL CHARLBTIETBWN
on its 1001]: Anniversary
In 1855 Charlottetown was incorporated as a town. But the beautiful capital of Prince Edward Island has a longer history than that. It started as a French fortified post in 1713 and had a small settlement in 1750 known as Port
la J oie. Twenty—three years later it came under
British rule and was named in honour of Queen
Charlotte, the consort of George III.
On June 1, 1906 The Canadian Bank of Commerce opened a branch here. Today, after more than 48 years of happy association, we look forward to continuing our service to this
thriving community through the years ahead.
T 0 Charlottetown, our congratulations and
best wishes for success on its centennial.

Charlottetown Branch W. M. MELLISH, Manager.
