K^-onaratu la tlon5 to BEAUTIFUL CHARLOTTETOWN off its 100th Anniversary In 1855 Charlottetown was incorporated as a town. But the beautiful capital of Prince Edward Island has a longer history than that. It started as a French fortified post in 1713 and had a small settlement in 1750 known as Port la Joie. Twenty-three years later it came under British rule and was named in honour of Queen Charlotte, the consort of George III . On June 1, 1906 The Canadian Bank of Commerce opened a branch here. Today, after more than 48 years of happy association, we look forward to continuing our service to this thriving community through the years ahead. To Charlottetown , our congratulations and best wishes for success on its centennial. THE CANADIAN BANK OF COMMERCE Branch W. M. MELLISH , Manager.
