The Annual Examination of this excellent Institution was held on Eriday the 22nd inst., in the presence of a lnrge number of visitors. The examination cemmenced with the Infant Class - Miss Spencer, Teacher - and the Primarvaeportment, First Division Miss Coles, Teacher. The exercises in the former consisted of singing, accompanied by appropricte motions on .he part of the pupils, multiplication table, ‘eeding, spelling and an object 'lesson. This class reflects credit on the young lady in charge of it. The object lesson especially - on the Lion ~ not only contained much useful information, given 'n an interesting manner, but was eminently calculated to cell forth the reflective powers of the children and to cultivate hebits of close observation and comparison. The writing on slates, too, wrs exceedingly well done. The exercises in the first division, Primary Department, were Bible History, Geography, Reading and Spelling, Arithmetic, Etc. All of whom witnessed the efficient manner in which the teacher of this Department performs her work must feel highly pleased. The reading was good, being natural, and generally very distinct. The children also evinced a thorough acquaintance with the meanings of the words

The Second Division of the Primary Department - Miss Mellish, Teacher ~ and the Intermediate Department - Viss Vorrawoy, Teacher m were next examined. The subjects in the former were Geography, Grammar, Bible history, Mental Arithmetic, Spelling from Dictation, and an Object Lesson, and Singing. In the letter, Grammar, Geography, Mental Arithmetic, Reading end British History. Both teachers performed their part with great efficiency. The answers of the pupils were 9 ompt, full, and accurate, showing clearly that the instruction ihoarted was thorough and practical. Assuredly pupils passing successfully through all these grades will leave school possessed of h thorough knowledge of the different branches taught. to,.and the pupils were seated in the order of their merit.

In the evening the Academic Department under the Principal and the Preceptress, Miss French were assembled in the lecture room. The classes were examined in Physiology, English Grammar, etc. The pupils had been taught orally but certainly displayed an astonishing knowledge of the structure of the human body.

~The pupils in this department were previously carefully examined by the Venerable Archdeacon Read and Dr. Leeming, two gentlemen selected for that purpose by the Committee with the view of

procuring a genuine test of the reel state of the classes

corresponding in feet to the exsninrtions conducted under the authority of the English Roycl College of Preceptors. Dr. Read's

report was highly commendotory. Dr. Leeming gave his orally and
