September, 1923.— Prof. Fletcher to tench music in Prince

Street School. School to i $100 and Board “7,

Prof. Cleworth and Prof. Ball each taught music here for a short time,

March, 1926 Principal Rogers reported that E. Lillian McKenzie was teaching music at Prince Street School. Her matchless tenching enriched the lives of Prince Street School boys and girls for 3% years.

September, 1960 - George Thom son appointed to Prince Street School staff.

If memory serves, it was not until well on in the 1940's that the Board contributed more than $50 a yeor for music instruction.

This brief run—down makes the point that while the other city schools, with the possible exception of Rochford Square School which come under the Board in 1916, were receiving sporodic music 1 instruction, this school hnd nlnost continuous professionol instruction

during its whole 90 years,-lorgel, at the school‘s recuest and

expense.

When professional instruction was not available, I Understand two classroom tenchers conducted music closses.

I could cite urny other instances to denonstrote "internal" initiative, but I shall mention onle a few:—

' v(l) Purchase of playground equipuent.

(2) Our activities throughout the winter months at the Sports Arena.

(3) Hcving our own Sports Director, Mr. Turner, to whom we pay 9 small honorarium though it is in no woy commensurate with
