Alfred Heaney

Alfred Heaney, 1884—1914, lived on this farm. He married lith Dennis, 1879-1948, Margate. They were the first couple to , married in Margate church which was built in 1898. They were esented ivith a bible and hymn book by the trustees of the urch, as'a‘memento of the occasion.

In 1902 Alfred Heaney built the house that still stands on is property. It is interesting to note that it cost $1300, complete

lThey had a family of three: Edison, Florence and Alberta.

Florence, born 1907, married Horace Thompson, Margate, in ’28. They lived in Long River and had three children. She is

n w a widow.

Alberta, 1910—1934, married Reagh Bagnall, Hazel Grove.

Edison Heaney g Edison, 1903-1962, farmed his father’s farm and married Nel-

lét Dunning in 1930. They had three children: Eric, Robert and aria.

Nellie died in 1944 and Edison re—married Dorothy Newson

Eric’s family described elsewhere.

Gloria married Hugh MacRae, Springbrook, and they lived in

NW London, later in Graham’s Road, and are now; living in the Cigarlottetown area. They have six children. . ‘

In 1957 Edison Heaney purchased'the Harland McGuirk farm

and he With his wife and daughter Susan moved to that dwelling. When Susan started attending Prince of Wales College, she and her mother moved to Charlottetown. Susan graduated in 1971 fl’Om the University of P.E.I. with her degree in history. '

Robert Heaney Robert, born 1935, married in .1957 Louise Ramsay, born

1938, Malpeque. They live on his late father’s farm and have 1:31:51” Children: Edith, born 1959; Gary, born 1961; Edison, born

4; and Douglas, born 1969. Robert also owns the Harland cGuirk farm and the house is occupied by his farm hand, Douglas

erry, his wife and family.
