George married Elizabeth Vanlderstyne of Charlottetown . At the time of his marriage, he bought the original home of his grandparents, Samuel and Ann Sherren, overlooking Stordy's Mills from the west. Here were born Charles, Edward, John; May who married Russell MacDonald ; Ruth, who married Ernest Inman of N. Tryon ; and Clark. John married Jessie Wadman . Their son, Fred, at present resides in Crapaud . Clark married Eva Sherren , and settled on the Christopher Smith property. Their famliy include: Blanche, Lloyd, Elmer, George, John, Willard, Earl, Dorothea, Lillian, Marion, Gwendolyn, and Leaman. Three of these: Blanche, wife of Willis Judson ; Lloyd and Leaman, reside in Crapaud . '■'•■' "THE HOWATTS" James Howatt , son of James and Ella (Miller) Howatt, was born in 1800 and died on June 6, 1875. He was twice married; first to Mary Ann Lea , to which union the following family was born: James, who went to California during the gold rush, and died in 1850; Ellen, who became the wife of Thomas Rogerson , and resided in Crapaud ; Ann, who married Andrew Reid , and went to Nova Scotia to live; Mary, wife of Wm. C. Bourke , Charlottetown ; and Lydia, who married Capt. Ryder . James' second wife was Grace Pollard . She was first married to George Warren , and they had a family of two sons, one of which was Douglas, the father of Bert Warren , who resided in Crapaud a few years ago, and married Myrtle (Cameron) Burgess. James Howatt 's second family consisted of three daughters and two sons, also an adopted daughter, Adelaide. The daughters were: Penelope, who was the efficient telephone and telegraph operator in Crapaud for a number of years; Grace, who died young; and Eliza Cath ¬ erine, who became the wife of Rev. C. W. Dutcher . The sons were: George, who married Frances J. Myers ; and Brad ¬ ford, who married Clara Palmer . George's family consisted of: Frank J., who married Floy Fitz - patrick; Ernest W. married Ida May Ross ; Cora Ethel , who married Fred Kettle- Grace, who became the wife of H. B. Woodward ; Leah May, later Mrs. B. C. Prince ; Nellie Hazel , who married J. W. Walker ; Nellie Myrtle , who'died young; and George Albert . Bradford's family are: Amy, Percy, who married Helen Howatt ; Frank Lionel ; and James Hibbert , who married Ella Cameron . "THE LOWTHERS" Among the earliest settlers in Crapaud , was William Lowther , a native of Yorkshire, England , who, with his family, emigrated to this country in 1818. In December of that year, he leased one hundred and twenty acres of land from the Right Honourable John, Earl of Westmore ¬ land; and the Right Honourable Robert, Lord Viscount of Melville.
