~ William Lowther married Hannah Fox. Their children were:
David born October 6 1811 ’ Jane born March 13 1814 Matthew born June 14 1818 William born ' September 26 1824 Cornelius born October 26 1828 George born April 4 1831
(Of these six children, David, Jane, and Matthew were born in, Yorkshire, England.)
. David and Matthew married Deborah and Hannah Smith, and in 1836, David settled on the farm, now in possession of Ralph Myers. When this land was being surveyed, their younger brother, Cornelius, then a lad of eight years, accompanied the surveyor, Mr. Clay, and his party, picking up the pins as he proceeded with the measurements. David re- mained on this farm for a few years, then sold it to George Newsom, and. moved to North Carleton. .
.. . Matthew settled on the farm now occupied by Eric Lowther, a great grandson of the first settler. Later Matthew moved to Carleton, and his. brother, George, became owner of the farm.
Jane married Matthew Callbeck, and settled in Bedeque. William married Mary Hockin, and moved to Rice Point.
Cornelius married Caroline Stordy, and settled on the homestead- They had no family, and when he retired, he sold the farm to his nephew, Herbert.
George married Susan Coughlan. To this union were born six children.
Alice married James Newsom.
Lilla married Robert Myers.
Herbert married Amy Livingstone.
Cornelius married Amy Lowther. (A granddaughter of David Lowther). Grace married George Myers. Caroline married Bruce Rogerson.
Herbert had a family of three: —— Margaret Adele, Cornelius Boyde, and George Archibald. In 1913, Margaret married William Callbeck, and they are the present owners of the farm on which Margaret’s great grand- father (William Lowther) first settled. They had one daughter, Myrtle, who married Elmer MacDonald. Their children, William Boyde, and Margaret Adele, are the sixth generation, and are now residing on part of the original property.
Boyde married Edna Muttart, and resides in North Carleton.
George married Vina Waddell. Serving with the 105th. Battalion,
he suffered shrapnel wounds and gas poisoning at the Battle of Vimy Ridge, which eventually resulted in his death in 1927.
When George Sr. retired from active life, he bought the Stordy property at Crapaud Corner, now owned by Bruce Gamble, and moved to the village. His son, Cornelius, inherited the farm, and in 1891, he brought his bride to Crapaud. To this union were born three children:
