George married Eliza Beer of DeSable in 1859. They had four sons and three daughters: Edgar, who lived in Albany, and had three daugh- ters, Viola,; Jack never married; Elizabeth and Artemas died young, Alice married David MacQuarrie and resided in Crapaud. They had four children: Frank, who was drowned when “The Dix” sank in. Puget Sound; Lena, George and Harold; George being the only surviving member of the family. Nellie became the wife of Joseph MacDonald, son of Peter MacDonald, Crapaud, and at present resides in Seattle, Wash. They had four sons: Lloyd, Leonard, Frank, and Joseph.

The other son of George and Eliza Nicholson was George Lester, Who was deeded his father’s farm in 1896, thus becoming the third George Nicholson to occupy this land. The large and comfortable dwelling house which now stands on this farm was built in 1886.

George L. married Annie MacCallum of Brackley Beach in 1896. His father and mother moved to “the house across the read,” which is situated on three and one half acres of land, at the intersection of the roads leading to Charlottetown and Stordy’s Mills; this land having been purchased by him in 1883. Here he operated a Blacksmith Shop until his death in 1906.

Two sons and one daughter were born to George and Annie Nichol- son; George Hubert, who attended Prince of Wales College, Charlottetown, and‘ Mt. Allison University, Sackville, where he received his B. A. Degree. He later received his M. A. from Harvard, and accepted a position at the University of Vermont, in Burlington, Vt., as Professor of Mathematics. He married Peggy Essery of Charlottetown. They have two children, Frances and Kenneth.

Marion was the daughter of George and Annie. She married Ernest Harvey, Crapaud, where she lived until her death in 1950. There are three surviving children of this marriage: Hubert and Juanita, living in Crapaud, and Audrey (Mrs. Charles Dunsford), living in Hampton. Hubert has three children: Heather, Linda and Harleigh, and Audrey has two: Sharon and Carol.

The second son of George and Annie was John L. In 1921 he pur- chased the adjoining property on the east, containing 94 acres, from William Callbeck. In 1923 he married Gladys Dunsford of South Melville, and was deeded the homestead to be farmed jointly with his father. His father took up residence in the “house across the road,” which had been purchased by the second George Nicholson.

John and Gladys Nicholson have two sons: George L., and James W. G. Jim attended P.W.C. in Charlottetown, and received his degree of B.Sc. (Agr.) from McGill University. He later received his M.Sc. from Cornell University, and is presently employed as an Agricultural Research Officer at the Experimental Farm, Charlottetown. He married Betty Nisbet, Tyne Valley. They have one son.

The fifth George Nicholson is the present owner of the Nicholson homestead. In 1950 he married Lorna MacFadyen, Augustine Cove, and went into partnership with his father on the entire farm, which now contains over two hundred acres. Their farm has recently been named “Dreamy Acres” by the present owners. The “house across the road” was completely modernized by John and Gladys Nicholson, before moving into it in 1950. John L. was an outstanding farmer, an active member of his Church, and a willing worker on all community projects. He died on November 28, 1956.

George and Lorna Nicholson have four sons: Robert George, John MacFadyen, James Roger, and Ronald Wayne.
