and in many states of U.S.A.; and their influence lives on, greatly in- creased throughout the years.

Their coming enriched the community in which they settled, and fostered the beginning and growth of the first Church in Crapaud, the Methodist Church, built on the Smith farm in 1826.

The Smith family consisted of ten children, eight of whom grew to adults. The first four were born in England; the rest in Crapaud. They were:

Christopher, who died young.

George, married Ann Wigginton. They had the following children: Deborah, Christopher, Elizabeth, Matthew, Sara, George, Jane, Isaac, Prince, and Henry.

Rev. Matthew married Elizabeth Bovyer. They had two children. Christopher and Margaret.

Isaac 1st. died young.

Deborah, married David Lowther. Their children were:— Hannah, Deborah, Mary, David, Ada, Christopher, William, Eliza, Cornelius, Isaac 1st. (died a baby), Isaac 2nd., Caroline.

Hannah married Matthew Lowther. Their children were :— Wil- liam, Sydney, Christopher, Wallace, Henry, and Ada.

Mary married John Lord Wright. Their children were :— Charles, Ada, Christopher, Bessie.

Ada married Edward Rogerson. They had one child, Grace, who married Robert Moore of Crapaud.

Christopher 2nd. married Margaret MacNeill. Their children were: Deborah, Hannah, Clara, Charles, Rupert, Percy, and Florence.

Isaac 2nd. married Hannah Myers. Their children were :— Herbert, Hedley, Ada, Walter, Hilda, Marcel, Mabel, and Ruby.

Among the many descendants of the Smith family still living in this area are: Mrs. Claudine Wright, Victoria; Mrs. John Dison, De- Sable; Mrs. Thomas Bell, Charlottetown; Austin Smith, Tryon; and Mrs.

“THE STORDYS”

Thomas Stordy was born in England in 1814. At the age of eighteen he emigrated to Prince Edward Island and was employed in a mill owned by John Lord, Esq., Tryon. In 1833 he married Margaret Wood of that place, and settled on his property in Crapaud, which was known for succeeding generations as “Stordy’s Mills.” Their family consisted of :— John, Joseph, Nelson, Thomas, George, Elizabeth, Caroline,

and William.

John married Margaret Carragher, to which union the following children were born :— John, Albert, Mary Jane, Mary Alice, Lina, Thomas F., Margaret, Russell, Minnie, and Bertram.

John Jr. married Mary Smith. His family reside in Brookvale. Albert married Ada Ince. Mary Jane became the wife of James

Trainor. Mary Alice died in childhood.

Lina married Fred Matters and resides in Kelly’s Cross.

Thomas F. married Naomi Villett. Their family:—— Rena, Leta, May, William, Everett, Elmer, Ralph, Keith, and Allison were born in
