carried on the farming, and is still living on his father's farm, having given up mixed farming some time ago, to deal in livestock. in 1918, Joseph married Bertha Helena Cameron , daughter of Thomas and Louisa Cameron of Hampton. Their children are:— Eleanor Louise , Graduate Nurse , J. H. Dunn Hospital, Bathurst, N. B. , and now married to Cameron P. Robertson of Hamilton, Ontario , (Geologist). They, with their children, Margaret E ., Donald James , and Catherine Anne , are in . Gladys B., Registered Nurse of the P. E. I. Hospital , Charlottetown , was in the services overseas for two years as a nurse in World War II. She married Majojr Reid, , a successful farmer. They have two children:— Joanne and Stirling E . "THE WADMANS" William Wadman and Harriet Grosvenor were married in ¬ lottetown in 1803. Her father, Benjajmin Grosvenor was the younger son of the Duke of Grosvenor of England , and was the first licenced school teacher in P. E. I . up to 1788. Their son, Henry (1822-1904), married Catherine Webster (1828 - 1915). He also was a teacher, and taught in Augustine Cove and ¬ lottetown, where he was later employed by the Government to collect quit rents. He retired to Victoria and was appointed Justice of the Peace. They had four daughters:— Henrietta, who married David T. Lowther ; Alice, who married Peter Newsom ; Matilda, who married Nor¬ man Wright; and Ella, who married Isaac Lowther ; and three sons:— Harry, who was killed in the Yukon in 1903; Oliver, who married Sehna Myers; and John Webster , who was an ordained Methodist Minister, and served' in Japan as a Missionary for thirty-three years. He and his wife and five daughters visited his home here while on furlough in 1900. He is remembered at that time as having addressed many large congregations, with his wife and family in native dress. Dr. Wadman was later ap¬ pointed Superintendent of Missions to the Hawaiian Islands. Oliver bought a store in Crapaud in 1865, which he carried on until 1919 He was Postmaster here for many years. Oliver's daughter, Wm- nifred, was a school teacher, and later took over the management of her father's store and Post Office. In 1919 she married Jack Shirley of Mel¬ rose, There are two children, Jack and Jean. "THE WILLIAMS FAMILY" John Williams , son of Henry Williams and his wife, Mcintosh , was born in Inkerman, P. E. I. , and settled in Crapaud in the early 1880s. His mother's people, the Mclntoshs, were living in P. E , Island, m 1798 His grandfather Williams was a shipbuilder by trade, and resided in Charlottetown . When he died his widow was left with four sons and one daughter, and absolutely no knowledge of business. She was persuad¬ ed that life on a farm would be better than the city for bringing up a growing family, and she exchanged the business in Charlottetown for a farm in Inkerman , where she spent the rest of her days. Her son Henry was the only one of the family who remained with her on the farm. On December 19, 1883, John Williams and Annie MacLean were married in Hampton Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Allan MacLean , a cousin of the bride, being the officiating minister, with James MacLeod -h| 66 fr~
