The one hundredth anniversary of the building of the first Church Was observed in June 1941 during the incumbency of the Rev. G. R. Hartman. St. Paul’s Church Choir and Rector assisted at the services.

The Fiftieth Anniversary of the Dedication of St. John’s Church was observed on Sunday, October 19, and Wednesday, October 22, 1952. On the Sunday the Services were conducted by the Rev. G. R. F. Ebsary; and the Organist at the Service of Holy Communion was Miss Ethel M. Inman. Miss Inman was Organist when the twenty-fifth Anniversary was observed.

The closing Anniversary Service coincided with the Induction of the Rev. G. R. F. Ebsary as Rector by the Ven. G. R. Harrison, Arch- deacon of P. E. I., and the Rev. J. R. McMahon, Rural Dean. The follow- ing Clergy were also present; The Revds. J. T. Ibbott (Preacher), A. E. Piercey, R. W. B. Coupland, G. E. Moffatt, and W. G. Hogg. The Choir of St. Mary’s Church, Summerside assisted in this Service. A souvenir leaflet was prepared for the occasion.

In 1949 the work of building a new Rectory was undertaken. The building is a comfortable eight-room structure, and is equipped by the Parish with stove, electric refrigerator and washing machine. It is located near the Church on the Trans-Canada highway.

The old Rectory with adjojining land was purchased by the Diocesan Church Society to be used as a Youth Centre and camp site for the Deanery of Prince Edward Island. It is encouraging to the Committee- in-charge, and a pleasure to the Parish of Crapaud to welcome visitors, young and old, who attend the various summer camps and meetings which are held annually at the Church Centre.

On Trinity Sunday, 1953, thanks to Parishioners and Vestry, black gowns were provided for the senior members of the Choir. The junior choristers were gowned during the rectorship of the Rev. S. J. Armstrong.

In October 1953, all outstanding debt on the new Rectory was paid in full. At a social following a Confirmation service, the Right Rev. R. H. Waterman D.D., Lord Bishop of Nova Scotia, burned the last symbol of the debt. The Bishop congratulated those, who, by gifts of money or labour, were responsible for the construction of a fine home, and paying for it in such a short time.

The history of any parish would be incomplete without reference to the work of its faithful women. The Woman’s Auxiliary of St. John’s Parish have proved a loyal group who work and pray for the Church at home and abroad. At present there is a membership of 30.
