road leading to Victoria. Ten years later it was moved to Miss Howatt’s property, adjoining her residence, by Matthew Callbeck and Son (Robert) at a cost of $10. The house on this property was built in 1886 by Joy Best.
After some years the Office was connected with the house, and was used as a Telephone Office. This property is now owned by William Waddell, of the firm, Waddell Bros.
After the Telegraph Office closed, Miss Penelope and Miss Addie continued to serve the/public with credit until 1935, when the Telephone Office was taken over by Mrs. Jane Gamble.

DAWSON’S SERVICE STATION
Dawson’s Service Station, operated by R. N. Dawson, was opened on September 11, 1953. Associated with Robert in the business, is his father, Percy Dawson, who has been in the farm machinery business for
over twenty years.
This building is situated on the new highway, being built on the site formerly used by the Crapaud Creamery 00., before the new Creamery
and Cold Storage Plant was built.
Before opening this Service Station, Robert had, for fifteen years, operated another Service Station in the Village at another location, now used by the Department of Public Health as a Public Health Centre,
and the Bank of Nova Scotia.
On the Staff at the present time, besides Robert and Percy, are: Lyman Harvey, George Stordy, and Albert MacDonald.

In 1945, Mrs. Lloyd Rogerson entered “Elizabeth’s School of Beauty,” Moncton, NB, to train as a Beauty Technician.
After graduating, she opened a Beauty Parlor in her home in Cra» paud, where she gives facials, manicures, and various styles of hair-
dressing.
Many of her customers have expressed appreciation of the conven- ience of having an up-to—date establishment of this kind within such a
short distance of their homes.
Another recent establishment on the Trans-Canada Highway is. “The Red Rooster Snack Bar,” operated by Harvey A. Bernard.
On the Westmoreland Road is a Radio and Cycle Shop, Sales and Service, operated by Wendell Mayhew.
