BEAIRSTO
William Duncan, Sr., was the son of William Beairsto and Elizabeth Champion of Spring Valley. He was married in November, 1879 to Joanna Wallace, daughter of Effie MacLellan, Indian River, and George Wallace. They lived first at Mill Valley then moved to Indian River near Tuplins Mills in 1906. They later lived on a farm near Indian River School. Duncan was a Miller by trade and worked in the Tuplins’ Mills, when power was run by water and Burr stones were used to grind wheat into flour. He was an accomplished musician and played the violin. The Beairsto home was a place of many happy gatherings. Their family were all musical and James is now one of the best “fiddlers” around. They had a family of eight. Lucy, Millie, Grace, Bertha, Fred, Preston, Minnie, and James.
Lucy married Charles Lochart. They had two girls. Evelyn married Elmer Bernard. They had three children.
Millie married Charles MacDonald. They lived in Borden, P.E.I. Charles was killed by an automobile in 1927. They had five children, three
girls and two boys. Annie married John Noonan. Jean married Clovis Perry and Mary, Mrs. Elmer Roberts. John married Irene Allan and Ronald died
following an operation.
Grace married Parminus Phillips. They raised three girls. (see Phillips).
Bertha married William Brander of Baltic in 1912. They later moved to Kensington. They had three‘children. Madge married Kenneth Pigeon. They have one boy, Ira. They are the owners of the Clermont Motel and also own an apartment house in Kensington. Ruth, Mrs. Eric Sudbury, has one son Ralph, and one daughter Joyce. She and her husband reside in Ken- sington.
Jackie Brander married Beatrice Folland. They have one son Garry and one daughter Brenda. Garry married Ann Arsenault of Summerside. Brenda attends school in Kensington where her parents reside.
Preston married Catherine Champion. They lived at Malpeque. They have five children. Everette, Grace, Frances, Hilda, and Verna (twins).
Everette married Dorothy Simpson and later Velma lnman. He had a family of six children: Betty, Preston, Clifford, Audry, Mabel, and James. He now resides in St. Eleanors.
Grace married Glenwood Adams. They live at Darnley. They have two boys and two girls: Earl, Norris, Catherine, and Wendy. Frances mar- ried John MacDonald, Manager of the Co-op Store at Summerside. They have three children.
Hilda married Lea McGougan. They live in Alberta where Lea is a rancher. They have three girls and one boy.
Verna married Professor Ross Warden. They live in Toronto. They have two boys and one girl.
Fred married Fanny Mountain of Malpeque. She died in 1923. They had two girls, Millie and Dorothy (see Phillips).
