BEING CONTENTED IS BETTER THAN GOLD

Betterthan grandeur, better than gold Than rank or title a hundredfold,

Is a healthy body, a mind at ease,

And simple pleasures that always please.

A heart than can feel for a neighbours woe, And share in his joy with a friendly glow,

' With sympathy large enough to enfold All men as brothers, is better than gold.

Better than gold to the thinking mind

Is the realm his thoughts in books can find A treasure surpassing Australia’s ore,

To live with the great and good of yore.

The minstrel’s song and the poet’s lay, The glory of empires passed away,

The world’s great drama will thus unfold And yield us treasures better than gold.

TELEPHONE LAMENT

And I do Mean You

I may be crabby

But girls that’s gabby,

Do surely make me groan.

I like old friends

And hate “old hens”,

Who always hog the phone! They leave their work

Their duty shirk, The gossip they must learn.

While you talk long I’ll sing this song, I hope your BISCUITS BURN!
