CAMERON John Andrew Cameron was born in Wellington, P.E.I. , son of David and Mary (McNeil) Cameron. In 1894 he bought 75 acres of land from Donald S. MacLellan (King) and built a house, barn and other buildings. In 1896 he married Mary Ellen O'Connor from Clinton. They were married by Mgs. D. J. Gillis at Indian River . She was a school teacher and had taught school in , Mimminigash, and her home school of Clinton. They raised a family of five children, two having died in infancy. Joseph Alonzo served overseas with the First Canadian Tank Battal¬ ion. He returned home in 1919, bought a farm in Baltic , P.E.I , and in 1928 he married Bertha MacLellan (daughter of Roderick). In 1928 they bought the John Tuplin farm at Tuplins Mills, and in 1935 Bertha bought the Mac¬ Lellan homestead from her brother John, they live on this farm. In 1941 Alonzo joined the Royal Army Medical Corps and served with the Military Hospital at Mulgrave, N.S. for five years. He worked with the Federal Civil Service for eight years, also served with Canadian Corps of Commission¬ aires at C.F.B. Summerside , P.E.I. They have seven children, the oldest, Roderick, married Kaye Innes of Newcastle, N.B. ; they have three in the family. Ann married David Arsenault from Tignish, P.E.I. ; they live in Mon¬ treal. Donalda and Michael live at home, Roderick is a Train Master for C.N.R . in Ottawa. Joseph married Ann Stewart of Brudenell, P.E.I. ; seven in the family: Heather, Bertha, Catherine, Elizabeth, Barbara, Margaret and John. They all live on a farm on the ( Indian River ). Joe served with the West Nova Scotia Reg't. in Holland and on the continent in World War Two. After the war he worked for International Harvester in Hamilton, Ont., before returning to P.E.I , to take up farming. Mary, Mrs. Earle Sullivan ; Earle is a native of Montague , P.E.I , and they live at , Ont. They have eight children: Larry, Debbie , Gor- die, Donnie, Cynthia, Todd, Coleen and Kenneth. Hilda Pearle , Mrs. Russell Haines ; Mr. Haines is a native of Quebec . They have four children: Margaret Jo , Connor, Mary Elizabeth (Bethy) and Cameron Alonzo . They reside at , Pt. Clair, Quebec . John married Geraldine Gardenier of Launching, P.E.I. . Five of a family: Glenn, Bradley, Nancy Ann , Sandra , Alonzo Daniel . John is superintendent with Texaco Oil , Dartmouth, N.S. Angus farms on the old MacLellan homestead at Corner. This farm was first settled by one of the two MacLellan Brothers who came to this Island from Gleich Liath, Scotland in the year 1787. Bertha (MacLellan) Cameron was born on this farm. Thelma Irene , Mrs. Jacques Le Gendre , they live at Canadian Forces Base, Rockcliff, Ottawa. Cpl. Le Gendre is a native of Quebec . Two in the family, Michelle and Paul. Ulysses Cameron attended St. Dunstans University and Prince of Wales College. He went to Vancouver, B.C. in 1922; he married Viola Gallagher in 1925. They owned a real estate business in Haney, B.C. Their family consisted of one boy and three girls. 39
