family home. He went away afterwards. Twelve years later, they moved to where the home still is at “Hickeys’ Corner”.

The occupation of the Hickeys was farming and fishing. In their leisure time, while the men discussed weather and reciprocity, (Rorie) which had a place in politics, Mrs. Hickey, a quiet person, was considering Esther Fire's favourite recipe for Mother’s Cookies. This recipe came from the file

of the gracious Esther Fire and has been proven most successful in a mul- titude of neighbourhoods.

William married Lillian Ready of lrishtown and lives on the homestead. Joseph and Emmett also reside there.

Janie married Dr. William MacLellan of Indian River and moved to West Roxbury, Mass. They have three children: Mary, Mrs. Donald Winkle; William (Dr.) and Donald (Dr.).

Leonard went away some years ago. Edgar (the youngest) married Kathleen Driscoll of Clermont in 1928 and resides on the Macintyre Farm in Indian River. They had a family of eight. Namely: Edgar, Arnold, Brenda, Joseph, Rozita, Lawrence, Noreen, and Eleanor.

Their chilf occupation was farming. The family was very musical, and in those days the vibration of tones was ever heard on the air.

Edgar and wife, Eleanor, reside in Hamilton, Ontario. They have six children: Michael, Brian, Brenda, Colleen, Paul and Virginnia Ann. Edgar is especially musical having started to play the violin at the age of nine. To— day, he is familiar with many instruments. He was instrumental in arranging the program heard over C.H.G.S. and C.J.R.W. in the summers of 1947-48- 49 known as the ”Hickey Bros”. His family is also gifted. Arnold, B.A., married Janet Conrad. They reside in Halifax. Davelyn and David are their children.

Brenda married Chas. Ryan and resides in Sherwood, P.E.I. Their children are Harry (adopted), Brenda Lee, and Charles (Jr.)

Rozita works in Charlottetown. Sister Noreen, C.N.D., teaches in Souns R.H.S. Eleanor married Frank Miller. They reSIde In Lachine. P.Q. Patty Ann and Glen are their children.

Lawrence, B. Sc., was a regional high school teacher and died in 1969. Joseph died in infancy

HILLMAN

Frank Hillman lived in Indian River from the turn of the century. He was married to Rebbecca Tuplin, daughter of John Tuplin and Margaret (Marks) Tuplin of Margate. They had a family of three daughters, Ethel, Gladys, and Ruby, and three sons, Ernest, Jack and Guy who attended school in Indian River. Ethel married Herbert Foster from the USA. but lived in Indian River for some time, had two children, Gladys and Wesley. Both attended school in Indian River. Wesley is married to Lillian Mill of Cler- mont, and lives in Kensington. The whereabouts of the rest of the family is unknown to us.
