DON’T HURRY

If you should go before me Dear, don’t hurry A’down the ways of death, well worn and wide; If I can’t reach you quickly, I would worry; Let’s seek the journey’s ending, side by side.

For I would be so lonely, not to find you Down some shining highroad when I came.

Walk slowly Dear and often look behind you, And stop, if you hear someone call your name.

He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not he is a fool. Shun him!

He who knows not, and knows that he knows, not —- he is a student. Teach him!

He who knows, and knows not that he knows he is asleep; Wake him!

He who knows, and knows that he knows he is wise. Follow him!
