unaccountable way he got the bottles mixed, the man took the calf medicine resulting in a complete cure of the stomach trouble but alas! the poor calves died.
MAILS AND POSTAL SERVICES
William Glover of Barretts Cross, now Kensington, brought the mail to New London once a week, there being no Post Office in Long River, the mail was left at Mrs. Neil MacKay’s (now Ivan Paynters). The first person calling at MacKays brought the mail in to William John- stones store. Mr. Glover made the rounds twice a week for a few years.
Hugh MacLeod, Kensington, followed three times a week, beside the Post Office in Park Corner, he had to deliver mail to Senator Mont-
gomery in Park Corner.
Gordon Tuplin, Margat‘e, was the next mailman and in his time it was changed to daily mail.
On one occasion the roads were so bad that Gordon made the round with a hand sleigh. John A. Thompson, Vernor Lynds, Leo Hughes and Arling Kilbride brought the Kensington route to an end.
Two cents for sealed letters when Hugh MacLeod was mailman.
Rural delivery started in 1919 and Archie Campbell brought the mail from New London, he was followed by Gordon Constable, Fred Pidgeon and Tupper MacKay our faithful and obliging mailman now in his 38th year.
Archibald Cousins and Mrs. Barbara Gillespie had the only Post Offices in Long River.
