Also sponsored were four first Aid Courses, one in 1948 when Mrs. Ella Brown , R.N . was instructor, one in 1955 when Sinclair Cutcliffe was instructor and another in 1962 with Mrs. Arthur Campbell instructing. The W.I . sponsored as well, a handicraft course when Instructors were Mrs. Larkin and Bertha DesRoches . Earlier a local school girl shew¬ ing club was formed and for several years the large class was capably in¬ structed by Mrs. Lea Crane . For many years a Blood Donors Clinic has been set up at Kensington at regular intervals. Margate has provided blood from many voluntary citizens as well as assistance and lunches, tea and coffee given and served by Women 's Institute Members. The Women 's Institute in Margate had membership in the Prince Edward Island and the Prince Edward Island Music Fest¬ ival for many years and many Margate pupils participated in and were winners at Music first held in Charlotte- town and later (for this area) in Summerside . In 1959 Margate pupils were awarded first place with their school chorus at the In 1962 they placed third and in 1963 they placed second. Many individuals won top placing and did very well with piano, vocal and dancing numbers. In 1958 Women 's Institute were awarded a trophy and $25.00 for greatest improvement to a one room-rural school and $140.00 for second place in Community Improvement Competition, also a Certifi¬ cate of Merit from the Rural Beautification Society. In 1963 the Women 's Institute bought a piano for the school. 26
